

Florence Della Guimont, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, peacefully passed away on February 18th, 2024, at the age of 95. Born on April 8th, 1928, in Burley, Idaho, Florence was the daughter of Oscar Daniel Jensen and Lydia Durfee. She was raised in Spanish Fork, Utah, where she cultivated a deep appreciation for family, faith, and hard work from an early age.
Despite having only completed some high school education, Florence exemplified resilience and determination throughout her life. Florence worked diligently, initially at S.H. Kress Five and Dime Store, where she met the love of her life, Delmer Paul Guimont. They were married on June 12th, 1949,in Portland, Oregon at a friend's house. Later in life she worked as a talented seamstress at Jantzen Clothing in Portland for a decade.
Florence's childhood experiences as a migrant farm worker instilled in her a strong work ethic and appreciation for life's simple pleasures. Raised in a Mormon household, she held steadfast to her faith and cherished her upbringing in the Mormon community.
An adventurous spirit, Florence found joy in traveling, camping, and exploring the great outdoors. She had a passion for crafts, including crochet, knitting, and art, and found solace and creativity in these pursuits. Florence was known for her love of card and board games, often gathering with family and friends for spirited competitions.
Above all, Florence's heart belonged to her family. She was a devoted mother to her sons, Daniel, Alan, and Larry, and her daughter, Marleah Nelson. Her grandchildren, Scott Guimont and Christine Van Sickle, held a special place in her heart, as did her great-grandchildren, Delaney Myers, Nathan Van Sickle, and Keele Van Sickle, along with her great-great-grandchildren, Ryder, Piper, and Layla.
Florence's compassionate nature extended beyond her human family members; she cared for pets throughout her adult life, nurturing a deep bond with animals until just a few years ago.
Florence Della Guimont was preceded in death by her husband, Delmer Guimont, parents, Oscar Daniel Jensen and Lydia Durfee, as well as her eleven siblings. Her legacy of love, strength, and devotion will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
In honoring Florence's memory, let us celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many and whose spirit will continue to inspire us all.
