Frederick "Fred" Bernard Dewey
October 24, 1931 – December 25, 2019
Frederick Bernard Dewey passed away peacefully in his sleep on Christmas morning. He was 88.
Fred was born in Portland on October 24, 1931 to Gesina and Oscar Dewey. He attended Rose City Elementary and graduated from Grant High School. Fred then graduated from the Civil Engineering School at Oregon State College. Shortly after, he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953 and served in Korea. He was honorably discharged September 30, 1955.
He married Florence Ann Ronckovitz in August 1959. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in August of this year.
Fred spent most of his career at Bonneville Power Administration in transmission design. After his retirement he enjoyed biking, windsurfing and golf with his many friends. Fred was a member of the Gresham Breakfast Lions, Knights of Columbus, Evergreen Investment Club, the Biking Bunch and was an active member of St. Therese Parish for the last 45 years.
Fred is survived by his wife of 60 years, Florence Dewey; daughter, Victoria 'Vicki' Rotolo (Leonard); son, Christopher Dewey; brother-in-law, Edward Ronckovitz (Nancy); nephew, Daniel Ronckovitz; and niece, Katherine Hasan.
He will be laid to rest in Willamette National Cemetery with Military Honors.
