Gary Webster, 82, of Portland, Oregon, lived a life marked by independence, adventure, and a love of trying new things. He was a man who enjoyed keeping busy, tinkering with things, and finding his next adventure.
Sitting still for too long was never really his style. Gary worked for the railroad during his career, but his interests extended far beyond his work. He spent several years motorcycle racing before getting his pilot's license and taking to the skies. His adventurous spirit later led him to sailing, where he owned a couple of sailboats and enjoyed spending time on the water. Later in life, Gary returned to his love of motorcycles, purchasing a couple of Harley-Davidsons and taking road trips through various states attending poker runs, toy runs and Sturgis bike rallys.
Whether he was working on a project, exploring a new hobby, or heading down the open road, Gary enjoyed doing things his own way. From the railroad tracks to the racetrack, from flying airplanes to sailing boats and riding his Harleys, Gary experienced life on his own terms. He was independent by nature, always tinkering with something and never short on interests to keep him occupied. His curiosity and willingness to try new things made for a life filled with unique experiences and adventures.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl Temple; children Brenda Hays, Brigett Leathers Levy, Brent Webster; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norma and Dale Webster; brothers Eldon, Leonard and Wayne Webster; grandson Wesley Levy; his oldest son, Bryan Webster, with whom he will now be reunited with.
Gary will be remembered for his independent spirit, his adventurous nature, and his lifelong desire to keep moving, learning, and discovering new things. His memory will live on through his family and the many stories and experiences that made his life special.
May the roads always be open, the winds always be favorable, and the skies always be clear.
