Gene Trout was born in a home in Portland, Oregon on April 29th, 1924. He went to Vernon Grade School, then attended Benson High School in NE Portland. World War II began before he finished high school, so he eagerly signed up for the Navy and shipped out before finishing high school. He served on the photographic squadron on the USS Anthony in the Pacific until the end of the war. When he returned home, he met Marie who would be the love of his life. After dating about a year, they married in 1947. After they were married, Marie encouraged him as he went back to get his high school diploma. They were blessed with two children, and many beloved pets. Gene worked as an electrician for 35 years, first with the Multnomah County Hospital before it changed to the State, and finally OHSU before retiring in 1986. In retirement, Gene and Marie “Babe” travelled the world and enjoyed being loving grandparents to their two granddaughters. Gene is survived by his wife of 69 years Marie, his son Art, his daughter Lisa, granddaughters Kathleen and Christine, and great-grandsons Simon and Colin.
