Beloved husband, father, and friend, George Jakes left us to be with The Lord on December 2nd, after 85 years of a life well lived. Born in Morristown, South Dakota, George lived most of his life in Portland, Oregon.
He served in the Army during WWII and worked for General Electric for 33 years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Phyllis (Rierson) Jakes, two daughters, Karen Snow and Cathy Jakes, and grandchildren, Anna and Jake Prosser.
George worshiped and enjoyed fellowship at Damascus Community Church. He found great joy in serving others, caring for his family and working with his hands. He was loved and respected by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on December 11, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Damascus Community Church: 14251 SE Rust Way, Damascus, Oregon.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Damascus Community Church in George’s memory.
