George Albert Till was born on May 30, 1929 in Spokane, Washington. He graduated from North Central High School in Spokane and from Whitworth College in Spokane. He then continued his education at Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas. In Dallas, he met and married Virginia.
George pastored churches in Big Creek, California, Burbank, California, and in Portland, Oregon. He was an assistant pastor in Fresno, California. He was a professor at Western Baptist Bible College in El Cerrito, California and moved with that college to Salem, Oregon. His most recent job before retiring was as Executive Director of Student Ministries, Inc., a nonprofit financial support organization for seminary students.
George enjoyed music all his life. As a boy, he took violin lessons and in high school he was the bass drum player in the marching band. He sang bass in many school and church choirs.
In the 1970s, George took up a new hobby of running. He ran in several 5K and 10K road races and also participated in two Portland Marathons.
George owned two different small airplanes and enjoyed flying to the Oregon coast with his wife, giving people tours over Mount Saint Helens, and working on the engines.
George was predeceased by his son Stephen George and by his wife Virginia. He is survived by his three daughters, Becky Macey (Brent), Donna Munsey, and Marti Durkee, and by five grandchildren.
George passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus his Savior on April 6.
