Gerald George Brezo

Gerald G. Brezo, a beloved husband, and father, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on June 30, 1939, in Orient, Iowa, and raised in Creston, Iowa, Gerald was the son of George E. Brezo and Irene M. (Burich) Brezo. He was a man of great character and integrity, whose work ethic and love of adventure touched everyone who knew him.

Gerald completed his education through the 9th grade and then proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963. In December 1961, he married his beloved wife, Mary Ann Fahey, whom he met on a blind date set up by their mutual friend, Karen Plew. The couple shared 63 years of love and partnership.

A dedicated heavy equipment operator, Gerald worked for McCormick & Baxter from 1957 until the company closed in 1991. He continued his career at Oregon Steel, retiring in December 2000. Throughout his career, Gerald earned the respect of his colleagues and was known for his skill, dedication, and attention to detail.

In retirement, Gerald indulged in his passion for cars and racing. As a retirement gift to himself, he bought a 2001 Camaro, which he raced at Portland International Raceway (PIR). He was an avid fan of all types of racing, whether spectating at events or watching races on television. He also enjoyed riding dirt bikes and street bikes, embracing the thrill of the open road.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann (Fahey) Brezo; his two sons, Tim (Colleen) Brezo and Tom Brezo; and his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, George, in 1950; his brother, Larry, in 1963; his mother, Irene, in 2003; and his brother, Dennis, in 2012.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at Skyline Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with pallbearers Tim Brezo, Tom Brezo, Tony Hepner, Rick Kelley, Marty Frilot, and Eric Brown. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and all those whose lives he touched.

Rest in peace, Gerald. Your legacy of hard work, love, and passion for life will never be forgotten.
