Gerald E. Helms Jr.

Jerry was born in Portland, OR on July 8, 1945 to his loving parents Ernie and Nan Helms. He graduated from Reynolds High School in 1963 and attended Oregon State University where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. In 1968 he married the love of his life, Juel. They had three children, Sheri, Chris and Jenny. Jerry had a 46 year career in the aviation industry, working his way up to Vice-President/Customer Service at AAR Western Skyways in Troutdale and continued his career at Flightcraft, Portland International Airport. Jerry was an avid golfer, and enjoyed many years as a member of Columbia Edgewater Country Club. He was also passionate about following Oregon State Football.

He is preceded in death by his mother Catherine “Nan” Helms and his step-mother Benarda Helms. To remember forever his love and courageous spirit are his father Ernest Helms; his wife Juel; son Chris Helms and wife Miklyn; daughters Sheri Borrevik and husband Jeff, Jennifer Lacey and husband Eli; grandchildren Lena, Claire, Gavin, Gabriel, Dakota; his extended family and his many many friends.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 1:00 pm, Columbia Presbyterian Church, 805 Columbia Ridge Dr, Vancouver, WA, 98664. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Association Oregon and SW Washington, in memory of Jerry Helms, 700 NE Multnomah #870, Portland, OR, 97232.
