A graveside service will be held for Gloria Patricia Olson who passed away at age 72 on May 1, 2012 in Portland, Oregon. Gloria Taylor was born February 19, 1940 in Minot, North Dakota to Clifford C. “Pete” and Myrtle L. (Larson) Taylor. Gloria was the eldest of five siblings and shortly after her birth the family relocated to Boise, Idaho. After living in Boise, Pete and Myrtle decided to move to Oregon for work. The family settled in the Beaverton area where Gloria attended Barnes Elementary, Cedar Hills Middle School and graduated from Beaverton High School. Born with cerebral palsy, Gloria learned early on to be a self-advocate for herself. She developed a tenacious personality, a take-charge attitude and was never shy, and always of good humor. As a teenager Gloria loved music, she was very fond of Elvis Presley, country western and was an avid doll collector in her late years. Throughout her life she made many friendships, the closest ones made at Gracelan Terrace where she had lived the last 16 years. Gloria will be remembered for being extremely genuine, kind and a woman of great Christian faith. Survivors include her mother, Myrtle Taylor; siblings, Marv (Helen) Taylor, Jim Taylor, Linda (Jim) Rilette and Caroyln Myers; nephews, Steve Taylor, Mike Taylor, Austin Taylor, Mike Myers, Aaron Wiese and a niece, Colleen Harbick. The family suggests contributions be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital. Please share condolences in the online guest book. Arrangements by Skyline Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
