It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gordon Doe Chin, who died peacefully on November 19, 2024, at the age of 75 in Vancouver, Washington. Born on March 17, 1949, in Guangdong, China, Gordon’s life was a journey of perseverance, love, and dedication to family.
In 1952, Gordon moved with his family to Kowloon, China, and in 1959, they immigrated to the United States, settling in Greenwood, Mississippi. His early years in America were marked by determination and hard work, and after graduating from high school, he moved to Portland, Oregon, in 1969 to attend Portland State University. It was during his time at university that he met the love of his life, Gloria, whom he married in 1973.
Upon earning his college degree, Gordon embarked on a successful 19-year career with JCPenney, which took him to various parts of the Pacific Northwest. His career led him and his family to live in Lynnwood, WA, and Puyallup, WA, where he worked in retail management and became a beloved member of the local community. Gordon’s work ethic, kindness, and sense of humor left an impression on everyone he encountered, and he took great pride in both his career and his family.
Gordon is survived by his devoted wife, Gloria; their sons, Wayne and Adam; daughters-in-law Le Wynn and Raquel; grandchildren Sebastian and Isabella; and his brother, Kenneth. His legacy will live on through his family and the countless lives he touched throughout his lifetime.
We will have a viewing starting at 10:00 am followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm on December 1, 2024 at the Lincoln Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
