Grace Anna-Lynn Williams passed away peacefully in her sleep at home at 7:21 PM on Monday, February 18, 2019. She was surrounded by the loving arms of her parents, brother, grandparents, aunt, uncle, pastor, and a few very close family friends.
Gracie blessed this world with her presence on July 16, 2012 at Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. From day one, she was the most loving, kind, vivacious, creative, joyful, silly, adorable, one-of-a-kind little girly-girl this world has ever seen. She never met a being who didn’t immediately fall head-over-heels in love with her. She loved dancing, gymnastics, arts and crafts, drawing, painting, princesses and PINK. She was a first grader at Rock Creek Elementary, and loved going to school, even in the midst of her illness.
During November, 2017 something in her seemed to change. She was less energetic, and no longer danced and sang as much. On December 1, 2017, she was diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), a lethal tumor of the brainstem. She fought courageously for the next 14 ½ months and never ever gave up. Even in her final days, she welcomed visits from friends and family, played as much as she was able to, drew and painted right up until the day she passed.
Gracie is survived by her loving parents, Emily Williams and Jamie Williams (nee Jamal Siddiqi); adoring brother, Liam; maternal grandparents, Linda and Paul Williams; paternal grandparents, Ann Jaline and Farhat Siddiqi; and many more loved ones than can possibly be counted. She has touched so many lives in her six years, strengthened our family and community, and will forever live on in all of our hearts.
A celebration of Gracie’s life will be held on Saturday, March 2. The public memorial service will be at 10:00 AM at Cedar Mill Bible Church, located at 12208 NW Cornell Road, Portland, OR 97229. A private burial service, limited to family and close friends only, will be held following the memorial service. This will take place 1 PM at Skyline Memorial Gardens, located at 4101 NW Skyline Blvd, Portland, OR 97229.
One of Gracie’s final requests was for, “the biggest, pinkest funeral ever!” so please come wearing as much pink as possible.
