

Hai Phuoc Ngo was born January 29, 1929 in Can Tho, South Vietnam. He attended Phan Thanh Gian school. Shortly after graduation, he joined the South Vietnamese Army in 1951 and began his service to his country.
In 1954 a neighbor introduced him to Le Thi Cuc. Their love blossomed and they married in 1957 in Saigon. Their first child, Lan Huong, was born July 28, 1959 in Saigon. Soon, they were expecting another child, and their son Le Dung, entered the world on October 27, 1960.
Hai Phuoc continued to serve in the South Vietnamese Army throughout the 1960s and 1970s reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. When the communist north took over in 1975, he was imprisoned in a “re-education” camp for more than five difficult years. He returned from this ordeal to relish being a “stay at home dad” and later took employment with a pharmaceutical company in Saigon.
He realized a longtime goal and brought his wife and daughter to the United States in 1991 where he retired. They were joined by his son and family in 2005.
Hai Phuoc is survived by his wife, Le Thi Cuc, and sisters Ngo Thi Hai and Ngo Thi Ba in Vietnam, sister Ngo Thi Hue in Kirkland, WA, and brothers Ngo Phuoc Hieu and and Ngo Phuoc Loc In Portland.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 30, 2011 from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm. His funeral will be Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 1:00 pm. Donations should be made to his wife.
