Helen Snyder

She was born in Newberg, Oregon in 1917. She had two older siblings and she and her family resided in Oregon most of her life.

After graduating from Washington High School Helen went to work at the Mier and Frank in down town Portland. It was during this time she meet her husband , Alfred August Snyder, they were married in 1938. Alfred and Helen had two children and Helen was a devoted mother and wife. She was entirely selfless when it came to her family. She always put others first. Although she was giving with her love, she still was the disciplinarian, as Dale and Caroline can still remember the lectures about "cleaning their plate" and not to let things go to waste.

Helen was an avid gardener and each year her garden seemed to bloom bigger and brighter than the year before. She was an exercise fanatic and walked every day. Although she was a very healthy person, no smoking or drinking she did have one vice in life....chocolate! This was an appropriate addiction for Helen, as most people would use the word “sweet” to describe her disposition.

In 1987 Alfred passed away and Helen began a new chapter in her life as a widow. Although his passing was hard for her she was able to find strength in her friends and family .She loved her role as grandma to her grandchildren Matthew and Nicholas.

She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Caroline and husband Ron Olson, son Dale Snyder and wife Mary. Grandchildren Matthew Snyder and Nicholas Snyder and great grandchildren Blair, Ryan and Stacey. She will also be missed by numerous nieces and many friends and acquaintances
