

Hope Lovina Bishop Erickson, 94, passed to heaven on April 6, 2012 in Portland, Or. Hope lived her life of faith by giving and sharing with others. Her life of service to others was characterized by her service in the Red Cross. During WW II she was stationed at military hospitals in Oakland, Ca. and Fort Lewis, Wa. She assisted wounded soldiers and sailors with personal care, help and counseling. After the war she settled in Portland and married Erick, her husband of 31 years.
While raising three children, Hope was one of many mothers to help out with church and school functions such as den leader for cub scouts. She volunteered for years at William Temple House, Green Ladies at Emanuel Hospital and the Oregon Drug and Alcohol Clinic, serving the needs of families and individuals. She was a life member of the Eastern Star as well as member of Grace Memorial Church.
Hope was born in North Olmsted, Ohio to Thomas and Orrill Bishop, the youngest of three children. She was predeceased by her husband, Erick, brother, Vincent Bishop and sister Martha Haire. She is survived by her three children, Lee (Connie) Erickson of Salem, David (Linda) Erickson of Portland, and Sonja (Arne) Fromme of Portland, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three nieces, a great niece and three great nephews.
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday April 14, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church, 1535 NE 17th, Portland. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Grace Memorial Episcopal Church, Portland or St. Luke Lutheran Church Senior Ministries, Portland.
