

A beloved member of his community, Don was revered for his loving and caring nature, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a devout Christian and found joy in the fellowship of his church communities, first at Sanctuary Church in Gresham, Oregon, and later at Bay Area Four Square in Coos Bay.
Don graduated from Clatskanie High School and furthered his education at the Oregon Institute of Technology. He dedicated many years to PGE before retiring, marking a career filled with diligence and a commitment to excellence.
Beyond his professional life, Don was an avid golfer and enjoyed camping and sports, especially cheering for his favorite team, the Chicago Bears. His passion for sports extended into his personal life as he coached his son Bryan's baseball team during his younger years.
Don also devoted time to serving meals to the homeless and volunteering at the food pantry at Sanctuary Church, truly living his faith through service to others.
Don is survived by his son, Bryan D. Long and wife Jane their children Justin and Ariane; daughter, Lisa White and husband Brian; grandchildren, Matt Sullivan, Melissa Yelton and her husband Andrew with their son James, and Mitchel Sullivan and his wife Torrey with their children Wesley and Sadie.
Don's life was a testament to his values of family, faith, and community and his legacy will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
Services to honor Don will be held on Friday, October 17, from 11am to 12pm at Ross Hollywood Chapel in Portland, followed by a burial at Willamette National Cemetery at 1 pm. A reception will take place after the burial at Bryan’s residence in Gresham, Oregon.
