Iris Ossie Nelson, 101, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at her home in Gresham, Oregon. Born on July 6, 1910 in the small Columbia River town of Knappa, Oregon, she was the daughter of the late Oscar & Cora Alice (Solard) Schaeffer.
She grew up in the Portland area and was married to Alvin Nelson. She spent her early life as a teacher, but settled down after marriage as a mother and homemaker.
Iris is survived by several grandchildren and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, and her daughter, Rebecca Nelson.
A graveside service is scheduled for Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 11:00am at Lincoln Memorial Park.
