

Irving Lambert Jr. was born in Harrison County, Houston, Texas on March 28th, 1936, to parents Irving and Mary Ella (Banks) Lambert. He was brother to Ben, Jonnie Mae, and Elizabeth. The family moved from Texas to the Portland, Oregon area in 1948. Irving attended Holladay Elementary School and graduated from Washington High School.
Following graduation, Irving enlisted with the United States Air Force where proudly served a four-year term of service that brought Irving to France and Germany.
After his military service, Irving returned to Portland and went to work for Continental Can Company where he worked as a maintenance engineer. He retired from Continental after 35 years of loyal service.
Irving was a pioneer entertainer at Darcelle XV (Portland's premier female impersonator showplace) where he performed for many years and will be remembered as "Irvina". Irving was a highly celebrated member of the Imperial Rose Court. He was a founding member and held the honorable status of Imperial Queen Mother of the Ebony Kingdom. Irving hosted many special parties and gatherings in his home and his favorite things were entertaining, cooking, shopping, and travel.
Irving, you were a loving and devoted son, brother, nephew, uncle, friend, entertainer, and caretaker, and will be dearly missed by those left to mourn your passing. You will always be remembered for your courage and celebrated for doing things your way.
Irving is preceded in death by his mother Mary and father Irving, Sr.; and younger brother, Ben Walter Stewart.
Survivors include his sisters, Jonnie Mae Robinson and Elizabeth Chambers; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and wonderful friends; and Goldie, Irving's special goldfish.
A chapel memorial service and celebration of Irving's life will take place in Skyline Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel, 4101 NW Skyline Blvd., Portland, OR, on Friday, July 12th, 2013, at 11am.
