Ivan Charles Winstone, born January 25, 1930, in Athens County, Iowa, passed away on July 2, 2024, in Woodburn, Oregon. He was the son of Frank and Ada Winstone. Ivan spent his formative years in Iowa, receiving education up to grade 8 before embarking on a life marked by various adventures and pursuits.
In 1950, Ivan married Wilma, beginning a journey that would see them through many chapters together.
Later in 1971, he married his second wife, also named Wilma, whom he met through his sister in Leavenworth, Kansas. Together, they shared a love for the Pacific Northwest, eventually settling in Oregon, drawn by its captivating landscapes.
Ivan found his professional calling as a Long Haul Truck Driver, a career that allowed him to explore the vast expanses of the country he loved. His dedication to safety behind the wheel was recognized with the Professional Truck Driver Safety Driving Award on four occasions, a testament to his commitment and skill.
Outside of work, Ivan enjoyed a range of hobbies including bowling, RVing, fishing, and boating, activities that underscored his appreciation for the outdoors and leisurely pursuits.
In his own way, Ivan imparted values he deemed important onto his children, emphasizing discipline and respect, albeit in ways that reflected his own upbringing. He cherished honesty and loyalty in his friendships and hoped to be remembered for these qualities.
Ivan Charles Winstone is survived by his children Jim Janicek, Ivanette Winstone (Terry), Jerald Winstone, stepsons Harold West, Wade West (Jodee), Jess West (Robin), as well as 10 grandchildren: Cliff Janicek, Samantha Winstone, Joshua Winstone, Travis West, Bobbi West, Aaron West, Jeremy West, and Brad West,13 great-grandchildren, and his brother, Melvin Winstone. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ada Winstone, his wife, Wilma J Winstone, two sisters Delpha and Crystal, and one grandson, Jayme Janicek Wilson.
In lieu of flowers, Ivan's family kindly requests that donations be made in his honor to the retirement community he was a part of. They intend to place a bench in his memory at Cascade Park, a place Ivan cherished during his later years. Checks can be made payable to Cascade Park and mailed to 950 N.
