

Jack Baird Lofton was born in Portland,Or.Nov.5, 1924. He passed away on Nov.6, 2010 at the age of 86 years old. Jack was the youngest son of three boys, born to Frank R.Lofton and Blanche DeGood-Lofton. He attended Rose City Park School and Grant High School. He is a World War II vet.and later became a mechanic at Hyster. He fell in love and Married Susan L. Beckel, July 29,1950.They just had there 60th Wedding Anniversary .They had two children, Mark and Shari. Jack joined the Portland Firefighters in 1953 to 1989. He was a member of the Mt. Hood Volunteer Ski Patrol in 1968 to about the mid 90's. He was a member and participant in"The Over the Hill bike club ". Jack had a passion for so many things. He worked on and race cars, he also build 14 boats over the years and his son still has the one that he built in the early 60's. He was a avid boater,camper,water skier and snow skier. He loved Sailboarding and riding motorcycles, hot air ballooning, fishing, building go- carts, and building remote control model airplanes. He also climbed Mt Hood twice. He had a gift that always amazed us, He could fix anything that we gave him, no matter what it was. Jack will always be remembered for his kind considerate nature, his love for his family and friends, and the joy in experiencing and trying new things. " His spirit will forever be in our hearts! " Jack is survived by his wife, Susan and son, Mark and daughter, Shari. His four grandchildren, Jenni, Beau, Jesse and James. And his five Great Grandchildren, Bailey, Austin, Cayden and Ethan and Lilly. A memorial service will be held at 12:30,Monday,Nov.15th, 2010 at Lincoln Memorial Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
