Jacob Edwin Heine was born and raised in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He joined the U.S. Army Air Force in 1946. (U.S. Airforce 1947), he retired June 1974 after 27 years of active service. 'Jack" was a Vietnam war veteran having served at Phu Cat Air Base in South Vietnam from 1967 to 1968 as a Master Sergeant. Among his many decorations and awards, he earned four Air Force commendation medals. Upon his retirement, he joined the David Douglas School district. retiring in 1992. Among his hobbies was fishing, his family and "putzing' around his house. since February 2009, "Jack" lived at Edgewood Arbor Assisted Living Community where he loved interacting with other residents and participating in the community.
