James “Jimmy” Edward Freeman, Jr. was born on January 1, 1961 in Los Angeles, California to the union of James Edward Freeman, Sr. and Nettie Mae Freeman; he was the eldest son. He moved to Portland, Oregon as a young boy with his family in 1972.
Jimmy accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age. He received formal education from Jefferson High School. He was employed as a cook and handyman for over 30 years and it was not uncommon for Jimmy to help his neighbors.
Jimmy was a kind-hearted person. So many family members far and near were connected because of him. He would call family and friends just to say hi. He did not talk long but wanted to let people know that he was thinking of them and would connect other family members to those he called. He was the “connector”. Jimmy had a funny sense of humor and would tell funny stories and make others laugh. His stories and laughter will be remembered. One of the few things that people didn’t know about Jimmy was that he liked to dress sharp. He didn’t mind his picture taken in his fancy suits, hats and shoes. Like his dad, he enjoyed fishing and playing dominos. He also enjoyed collecting and listening to 70’s R&B albums—those oldies but goodies. He worked tirelessly in the yard and kept it well manicured along with the family garden. He was a handyman around the house and was great company and help to his dad and other family members. He will be greatly missed.
On Saturday, December 1, 2018, the spirit of Jimmy Freeman left his body.

He is survived by his father, James Edward Freeman, Sr., sisters Portia Elaine LeBlue and Roshan Yvette Etim, and brother Anthony Bernard Freeman. He had a host of nieces and nephews, loved ones and friends.
