Phyllis, we(The Boyce Family) are so terribly sorry to hear about James. Please accept our condolences. I can remember working with James on projects at Brooks for the Western Steam Fiends when he as an active member of our club. He was such a wonderful guy who will be missed everyday. May your memories comfortable you during this difficult time.

Phyllis, we are so terribly sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. What a wonderful man. Tim has such fond memories of working with him all those years and cherishes their friendship. Jim always answered our calls for help with generosity and kindness. We always loved seeing both of you whenever we could. Our love to you and the family. Warmly, Connie Hurley

James was the second son of Uncle Straw and Aunt Frances. We were usually at their house every weekend if they were living in Texas. There were five of them and three of us: Len, Jim, Nancy, Fay, Roy, Elaine, me, and Lennie. James and Elaine were the same age. She was only days older than he. They were the gabby ones and could talk up a storm which they did all their lives, even when he was in Oregon and she was in Texas. I shall always remember Jimmy. He was a favorite cousin and an all-round delight to be around. May he rest in peace surrounded by the love of those who went before. He and Elaine don't need phones any more.

I remember many times when James would tell us a story about when he was a young man & how he loved any & all trains & tractors.
He was one of a kind & everyone will miss his kind & sweet nature.
I especially loved the fact that the Garrett's included me in their family even after my husband (James' cousin) died.
