

James Lee Malone was born on February 14, 1941 in Holley Oregon. He was the youngest of seven children born to Ernest and Vina (Matlock) Malone. He was a graduate of Sweet Home High School and was known for his love of cars.
James spent his entire life working on cars. They were his passion, especially hot rods, t-buckets and corvettes. In his youth he became a truck driver and spent his career on the road driving all over Oregon and Washington. In his later years he could be found traveling in his motorhome with his loving wife Joan. James and Joan adventured through Oregon, Utah, Arizona, California and Washington in their motorhome seeing the sights and visiting all but 1 lighthouse in the entire state of Oregon. James was a fan of rock-n-roll, “the oldies but goodies”, and also watching western films. He always had a smile on his face and was a real gentleman who loved his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Vina Malone; his wife Joan Louise Malone; his brothers Francis, Woody and Tom; his sister Thelma.
James is survived by his loving wife Joan Elaine Malone; sisters Ernestine Hipp and Wanda Church; son Chris Malone; daughter Jamie Le Thurston; step-sons Richard Rathmanner and Lloyd Blackwell; step-daughters Lynnea Trotter and Shawna Peterson; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 with a funeral service to follow at 11:00am in Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes, 1515 NE 106th Avenue, Portland, OR 97220.
