After graduation, Jim worked for the Bureau of Mines in Albany for two years. He then joined the Navy, first attending electronics school on Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay before serving on destroyers patrolling the Western Pacific during the Korean War. Along with four others, he then founded a components manufacturing company where he worked until retirement. Jim was a member of the American Chemical Society and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). In later years, Jim and his wife moved from their Cedar Mill home to Terwilliger Plaza to enjoy the advantages of a retirement community. Jim also appreciated nearby Duniway Park and Terwilliger Boulevard for his daily walks. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Lynn); sons, Robert in Brentwood, Tenn., and Michael in Portland; grandchildren, Nathan and Kelsey in California.
