

James "Brian" Scott, 75, of Portland, Oregon, passed away on March 13, 2025. Born December 22, 1949, in Iroquois Falls, Ontario, Canada, to Blair and Margaret (Campbell) Scott. His early life was spent in Quebec, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Oregon. He graduated from Sunset High School Portland, OR, in 1968, and from the University of Oregon in 1972, with a journalism degree. Brian started his career writing for a Cincinnati newspaper and then came back to Oregon to work for Tektronix and several Portland banks. He eventually retired from Clark College in Vancouver, WA.
Brian enjoyed watching sports, listening to music, and also photography, gardening, and antiquing. He loved animals and was particularly passionate about the numerous dogs he owned. Brian loved living in Oregon and spending time on the Oregon coast. Throughout his retirement years, he enjoyed texting daily entertaining articles, cartoons, and photos that he found to his family and friends.
Brian is survived by his two children, Peter Scott (Vancouver) and Laura (Greg) Lemma (Happy Valley); Grandchildren Madeleine and Amelia Lemma; sisters Pam Hildenbrand (Ohio) and Deb (Tim) Steager (Wisconsin); Aunt Sheila Aldworth (Canada) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother Margaret (Campbell) and his father James Blair Scott and by his brother-in-law John Hildenbrand.
Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim, Ontario, Canada. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
