James "Jim" Anthony Yazzolino, age 61, of Portland, Oregon passed away on Friday September 14, 2018 after a six year battle with cancer. Jim was born September 24, 1956 in Portland, Oregon to Diana and Ernesto Yazzolino. He spent much of his time attending the softball games his father umpired, sparking an early love for baseball. He graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School. He was definitely a rebel rouser in his youth! Despite being a bit of a trouble maker, Jim adored his Mom! Jim went on to attend Ashland University and eventually Portland State University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree.
Jim's degree allowed him to acquire a job in the financial department of TriMet where he worked for many years. When he wasn't in the office he was out enjoying the finer things in life. He loved quality! Jim enjoyed caring for his cars and going for long scenic drives. He also liked spending time fishing. It was on the Deschutes River where Jim met the love of his life. A mutual friend was leading a rafting trip that both Jim and Michelle happened to attend. They two were married on November 16, 1984 at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church. The couple welcomed two boys into their home and Jim thrived as a father.
Jim's true slice of heaven was the McKenzie River. An ideal day for him would be spent fishing on the river with his sons and dear friends and hanging out on the river bank drinking a beer with family and the Moyven tribe.
Jim is survived by his spouse, Michelle Yazzolino; son Danny Yazzolino; daughter-in-law Lauren Yazzolino; and son Mikey Yazzolino; sister Janet Mills and brother-in-law Gene Mills. Jim also leaves many nieces and nephews to cherish his memory as well as his beloved dog Minnie and beloved cat Emmy.
Jim was preceded in death by; father Ernesto Yazzolino; mother Diana Yazzolino; and brother Steve Yazzolino.
A memorial service for Jim will be held Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 11:00 AM at Skyline Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4101 NW Skyline Blvd., Portland, OR 97229.
Jim will forever be remembered as a loving father and husband. His beautiful spirit will live on in the memories of those whose lives he touched.
