Jana Ondovcikova Cabanban

Jana Ondovcikova Cabanban always showed her strength and tenacity in everything. Jana passed away on July 26, 2022 after complications with leukemia. Jana was born in Trebisov, Slovakia to Jan Ondovcik and Anna Ondovcikova on June 17, 1979. She went to college in Banska Bistrica at Matej Bel University (Univerzita Mateja Bela) earning a Master’s degree in Pedagogy. She got the opportunity to work as an au’ pair in the United States. After a working in New York, Boston, and Charleston she came to Oregon via San Diego. She continued child care work for Vermont Hills Family Life Center as an after-school teacher and eventually became a Site Director for the Portland VA site. She enjoyed working with the staff to provide care to the many children at the Portland VA center. Her courage and tenacity endeared her co-workers as well as her caregivers. She is survived by her husband, Art; a daughter, Kianna; a step-son, Sean; a sister, Iveta; a niece, Sabrina; her father, Jan, and her mother, Anna; brothers, Ludomil and Marcel. A visitation for Jana will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Finley-Sunset Hills Mortuary, 6801 SW Sunset Hwy, Portland, Oregon 97225. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. This service will be livestreamed on at www.facebook.com/finleysunsethills and will go live just before 11:00am A memorial reception will the close out the memorial 12:00 PM. A graveside inurnment will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 10:00am on Sunset Hills Memorial Park, 6801 SW Sunset Hwy, Portland, Oregon 97225.
