Jeffrey Charles Davis was born in Portland, Oregon to parents Charles and Hannah (Gold) Davis on February 10, 1953. He was brother to Greg and Mary Jo. When Jeff was grade school age, he had a very special dog “Frisky” the Australian shepherd. Frisky would follow Jeff to school and sometimes be there waiting for him when he stepped off of the school bus. Jeff had many fond memories and stories about Frisky and he loved to tell those stories about his loyal companion. Jeff attended Sunset High School and as a high schooler, he developed a great love for playing drums and the rock music of the 60’s and 70’s. His favorite bands were (and continued throughout his life to be) The Rolling Stones and Kiss.
Jeff was a whole life resident of the Portland area. His occupation was in the restaurant industry and for a time worked as a bartender in a family-owned restaurant.
Jeff will be remembered as someone who was fun to be around, someone who was kind, and as a person who lived simply. It has been said that Jeff was truly a product of the 70’s and he kept a youthful spirit throughout his life. Even at 60, Jeff thought he was still 20. Playing drums was a true passion and a meditation for Jeff. He would go back to his room, turn up the volume on his favorite songs, and beat on his drums in time with his music. He would do this for hours – these sessions were Jeff at his happiest. He also enjoyed dirt bikes and playing pool at the Rialto Poolroom in downtown Portland.
For the last couple of years of his life, Jeff lived in Tigard, OR in the home of his daughter Amy Fields and Amy’s husband Jim. Amy and Jim are drag racers and Jeff was always very excited to accompany them to Woodburn Dragstrip to watch them race their ‘89 Chevy S-10 drag truck. Jeff was also quite partial to the jet cars. A love even greater than drums was his love for his daughter Amy and his grandchildren Hunter and Lincoln. Jeff loved them very much loved just being near them and spending quality time together.
Jeff was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, cousin, and friend and he will be missed.
Jeff is survived by his loving daughter, Amy Fields and son-in-law, Jim Fields of Tigard, Oregon; grandchildren, Hunter and Lincoln Hupp also of Tigard; brother, Greg Davis of Vancouver, WA; sister Mary Jo Bozich (husband Jeff) of Rock Creek, OR; niece, Courtney Bernard; nephew, Matthew Bernard; niece Jana Pindell of Portland, OR; aunt and uncle Josephine and Allen Cohen of Eugene, OR; and cousin Brad Cohen, also of Eugene.
Jeff will be privately laid to rest in Skyline Memorial Gardens of Portland, OR in the garden of the Good Shepherd.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held At Rock Creek Country Club, 5100 Northeast Nekahnie Avenue, Portland, Oregon, at 1:30 pm on Friday, January 2, 2015.
