

Jerry was born July 15, 1937 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He moved to Oregon at an early age and grew up in Portland. He graduated Benson High School in 1955 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Jerry served the USMC with pride and honor for 11 years. On August 21st, 1965 he married Donna Mae Mittleider. Together they had two sons and raised their family in the Oak Grove area of Clackamas County, Oregon.
Jerry later retired as a union Letter-Pressman in Portland, Oregon. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and loved big game hunting. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America where he was a community leader for over a decade. Jerry also served as a dedicated Kaiser Hospice Volunteer for twenty years. He loved family, handyman work and keeping his yard impeccable.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Mae Rhodes; his mother Verda Marie Nyce and his father James Guy Rhodes; and his sisters Marcellia Ruth Rhodes and Ida Mae Rhodes. Jerry is survived by his sister Marlene Kay Rhodes; two sons, James Guy Rhodes and Douglas Guy Rhodes; and three grandchildren Sarah, Hailey and Emily.
Jerry’s family would like to thank Kaiser Hospice for the care and compassion they showed our father in his final days, allowing him to pass in his beloved home, in peace and comfort.
Family and friends are invited to attend a service and internment at Lincoln Memorial Park, 11801 SE Mt Scott Blvd, Portland, OR 97086 on Sunday August 20th, 2023 at 11:00am. Family and close friends are invited to join us at Jerry’s family home immediately following the service.
