Raised around Mt. Scott in Portland, Joanie was a proud graduate of Rex Putnam High School, where she excelled on the tennis team. Her academic journey continued at Oregon State University, graduating in 1977, where she cherished her time as a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority, maintaining lifelong bonds with her sisters.
Joanie's professional life was marked by a remarkable 40-year career at Nike, beginning as an accountant and rising to the role of Director of Global Trade before retiring in 2019. A devoted member of Rolling Hills Community Church, Joanie led a women's Bible study and taught Sunday School in the nursery, nurturing her community with her faith and love. Her service extended beyond the church, as she was known for her generosity and commitment to others.
Her greatest joys were her children and grandchildren. Joanie was a constant presence at soccer games, gymnastics meets, and family gatherings, embodying the role of devoted mother, nana, and Auntie Joanie.
