Joanna graduated from Franklin High School, class of 1958. On June 25, 1960, she married Richard J. Paul at Our Savior Church in Portland, Oregon.
Her early work history was working as a model for Meier & Frank and then as a bank teller but would tell you her biggest accomplishment was being a mom and homemaker. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and enjoyed reading the bible.
Joanna’s dedication was evident in her involvement with Beta Sigma Phi, where she was a member for over 50 years and served as chapter president for many years.
A woman full of life, Joanna was known for her beauty and her love of dressing up, bringing a sense of occasion and polish to everyday moments. She expressed care through her hands and her heart-sewing, cooking, and creating stuffed animals and dolls for children at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.
Joanna had a sharp sense of humor and a forthright honesty that those closest to her came to cherish. Above all, she was deeply loved as a wife and mother. She loved big, and she was generous with her time, her money, and her affection.
Joanna is survived by her son, Tim Paul and her daughter, Tammy Edgerly husband Dean; grandchildren Kirk (Andrea) Paul, Anna Edgerly, Alaina (Jake) Chamberlin, Grant Edgerly, and Alicia Edgerly (by marriage); and great-grandchildren Clara Chamberlin and Walker Chamberlin.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joanna’s memory to Albertina Kerr, Doernbecher Children's Hospital, or Wounded Warrior Project.
