

John Bradley Pond, Jr., passed away quietly on August 9, 2014 after a short illness. He was the beloved father of Megan E. Klippel and grandfather of Bradley H. Klippel of Rocklin, California. John was the brother of James A. Pond and proud uncle to Lindsay Dever and Stacey Williams of Wilsonville, Oregon.
John was born May 12, 1947 to John Bradley Pond, Sr. and Eileen L. Link and grew up in his childhood home of Canby, Oregon before joining the U.S. Army and serving overseas.
John served honorably in Germany and later in Viet Nam with the 101st Airborne, where he was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his acts of heroism. John loved his family and was a lifelong sports fan and an American patriot.
He spent his career as a retail formal wear manager in Portland, Oregon and San Mateo, California. He returned to Oregon in the late 90s and lived out his life in Wilsonville, Oregon, close to his brother Jim.
A memorial service is planned for Monday, August 18th at the Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Portland. John will be buried at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
