John "Mike" Michael Stone

August 25, 1947October 28, 2019

John ‘Mike’ Michael Stone passed away unexpectedly on October 28th, 2019 in Joseph, Oregon. He was born on August 25th, 1947 in Portland, Oregon.

Mike was an Army Veteran who was stationed in Germany, and had always talked about how much he enjoyed his time there. He married his wife, Patricia ‘Pat’ Miller, on March 26th, 1976, and they were each other’s best friend for 43 years. They met in Seaside and were married in Portland. Mike was a proud member of the International Association of Heat & Frost Insulators & Allied Workers Local 36 for 45 years from 1970-2015. He was a respected Foreman who was regarded as kind, fair, and honest, and will be greatly missed by his union brothers.

Mike adored his two dogs, enjoyed cooking, and was an avid reader. He truly loved visiting their cabin in Joseph, spending time at Wallowa Lake, and visiting with friends. He was buried on a beautiful sunny day at the Joseph Cemetery on November 4th, 2019, overlooking the Wallowa Mountains. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Helen Stone. He is survived by his sister, Kathleen Enders (Bob), and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mike’s life at a reception and celebration at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 11801 SE Mt. Scott Blvd in Portland on Friday, November 8 at 11:00 am. Please come with a favorite memory of Mike as there will be an opportunity to share stories.

Mike was the greatest provider, husband and dog lover. He was always there for Pat. I was lucky to know Mike since meeting Pat and shared a lot of great memories over the years with them.
He will be greatly missed by anyone who ever had the pleasure to meet him.

I will miss my friend. Mike always had the ability to make me laugh while we were working. A true benefit to the industry and all of the people he was around. Straightforward, Fair, and Honest....as good a way to live life as there is. For the people who knew you well enough, your sense of humor was amazing. Rest In Peace Brother.

I am going to miss this peaceful man. He was always such a delight to be around. He was a proud member our very proud Union. As well as an asset to our industry. He was a Foreman on most jobs he worked, and was one of the best Foreman I ever worked for. He treated everyone with kindness and respect, and I have never heard anyone speak bad about him. He will be missed by everyone that ever had the pleasure to meet him. He has left an un-fillable void in our membership.
Love you Brother, Rest In Peace

Uncle Mike- as my brothers and I referred to him- was a sweet man. He is our second cousin- but just seemed more like an uncle. Always kind to me and my family. My mom’s cousin. Gayle always had a soft spot in her heart for Mike. We will remember family gatherings at Pat and Mike’s home in Boring Oregon (now Damascus ) we always got a kick out of that city name! My kids had fun running and playing on the ‘farm’ with the animals there- . The bbqs in the summer will be remembered . Rest In Peace, ‘uncle Mike’ . We love you and will miss you.
