Jonathan G. Torrey, age 67, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, December 6, 2019. Jon was born July 19, 1952 in Onowa, IA to Opal and Richard Torrey. Jon is survived by his wife, Julie; son Samuel, his wife Elena and grandson Evan; sister Barbara and her husband Linn Whitaker; and sister Robin West. He was preceded in death by his previous wife Nancie, sister Dinah Lee, brother Bill and his parents.
Jon grew up in the Portland area, graduating from Lake Oswego High School and the Museum Art School in Portland, now Pacific Northwest College of Art. Jon was a loving father, devoted husband, and a unique entrepreneur. Jon devoted the majority of his career to raising awareness for eye health. He will be remembered for his artistic background and his adventurous spirit: sailing across the Pacific Ocean, cross-country motorcycle rides and mountain climbing in the Cascades.
