Joyce was born on September 10, 1942 in Tule Lake, CA, the second daughter of Kunihiko and Jessie Tanaka. Growing up in Old Town with four other sisters, she helped in the store her parents operated helped care for her younger siblings.
Joyce like being with her friends going to restaurants, movies and night clubs. Happy hours at Hung Far Low’s become a frequent and favorite place to meet friends, laugh and enjoy life.
Joyce graduated from Lincoln High School and Portland State University. She worked at Nordstroms while attending college and developed a very strong interest in shopping at this department store. This retailer sparked her interest in clothes and especially shoes. After college US Bank hired her where she eventually become a Trust Department manager. She met her husband, Eldon Fedler while working at US Bank.
Eldon and Joyce were married in Honolulu, Hawaii in September of 1989. She enjoyed golfing and especially shopping. They both enjoyed traveling and visiting friends in Coeur d’ Alene, London, Spain, Italy and Phoenix. Those annual trips to the coast provided peaceful days whale watching bringing back cranberries for Thanksgiving dinner. Joyce and the extended family were spoiled by Eldon’s extraordinary culinary skills.
