Joyce and her family moved to Alberta, Canada for several years when she was young, later settling in Portland, Oregon. After a whirlwind courtship, she and Gene Jacobson were married in Portland on August 11, 1950, a union that lasted 68 happy years until Gene’s passing in 2018.
Joyce enjoyed bowling, golf, and sewing, and collected Swarovski figurines, blown glass ornaments, and teacups and saucers.
She was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Alexa Dyer and McKenzie Jacobson, and is survived by her children, Alan Jacobson and wife Irene, David Jacobson, Joan Gilbert and partner Gary,
Leslie Jacobson and wife Marge, and Michele Dyer and husband Russ; and by her sister Elva Sattergren.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations in Joyce’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospitals.
