Juanita Marie McDaniel went to her next life on July 20, 2020. She joined her husband of 63 years, Rex McDaniel; her oldest son, Stan; and many other family members and friends who have gone before her.
She was born on July 19, 1924 and died just hours after her 96th birthday. Born in Kinta, Oklahoma to Henry E. (Choc) and Elsie M. Cooper, her father was an original Dawes enrollee of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. Juanita was proud to be an enrolled member of the Choctaw Tribe and to have all of her children and many of her grandchildren as enrolled members.
She met Rex McDaniel at Pacific Bible College in 1943 and married in June that year.
Juanita dedicated her life to The Church of God. She was one of the original members of The Tigard Church and found a wonderful church family there.
She enjoyed her retirement years with her husband, traveling and doing missionary work in Israel, Rome, Brasil, The Phillipines, and University of Nations in Kona, Hawaii.
She had two brothers and three sisters. She has one remaining sister, Thelma LaVelle of Oregon City. She has one sister-in-law, Hilda Blair of Pendleton, OR.
Additionally, she is survived by daughters: Donna Caldwell (Ronald) of Oregon City, OR, and Patti Smith (Mike) of Cape Meares, OR; her son Danny McDaniel (Heather) of Hilo, Hawaii. She has enjoyed nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many dear friends.
Juanita spent her final years at McLoughlin Place in Oregon City. She loved her surroundings and the staff.
Interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery where she will join her veteran husband, Rex. A celebration of Juanita’s life may occur at a future date.
