June Rae Twilleager, age 91, of Lebanon, Oregon passed away on Tuesday June 11, 2019. June was born June 7, 1928 in Smith County, Kansas. At a very early age she was adopted by Fred and Thelma Felzien. The family relocated to Tigard, Oregon where June settled into a new life on the west coast. June excelled in school. In grade school she won the spelling bee championship, which might explain how she could pick up a dictionary and just start reading! She went on to graduate from Tigard High School as an honors student. After high school, June began her long banking career first as teller, then supervisor and loan officer in home mortgages and student loans, and was promoted to branch management prior to her retirement. She was a member of the bank's team selected to automate the bank's loan accounting system. In her free time she enjoyed crocheting and working on puzzles. She loved watching Wheel of Fortune and was an avid Trailblazers fan! June also really enjoyed a good game of bingo!
June attended Sweet Home Church of Christ where she was a beloved member of the congregation. In her earlier years she especially enjoyed teaching Bible school and mentoring children. Her faith was such a big part of her life and she loved passing along the teachings of the Lord to the younger generations. It was at church where June met Edwin Twilleager. The two married on July 21, 1946. Over the years they welcomed five children into their home. June was a loving and proud mother and she was deeply devoted to her family.
June would want to be remembered for her love for the Lord and her desire that all should come to know Him.
June was a strong willed woman. One of her greatest accomplishments was walking after the doctors told her she would never walk again upon contracting polio. June credited her deep faith in the Lord for giving her the power to overcome her struggles.
June had a lovely singing voice and wrote multiple hymns, some of which are copyrighted. Her music and her memory will live on forever in the hearts of those whose lives' she touched.
June is preceded in death by her spouse, Edwin Twilleager; parents, Fred and Thelma Felzien, Step-Mother, Ora Felzien; brother, Jimmie McCullough, and sister, Mildred Rowland.
