Justin Matthew Taylor, 38, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on September 12, 2018 in Portland, Oregon. He was born on October 12, 1979 in Arlington, Washington, to Linda and Paul Taylor. He attended Arlington Christian School, EvCC and Clark College. Justin worked at Clark College, the Fair Housing Council, Portland Rose Quarter and the Oregon Zoo. He most recently worked at The Grass Shack.
Justin had a passion for life. He had a wonderful sense of humor and no one needed to wonder his opinion on any given subject. He loved to entertain those around him and he found his calling as Ivory Cox, Empress 36 of the Raintree Empire. Ivory became the emcee of choice for many fundraising benefits. His favorite charity was Martha’s Pantry in Vancouver, Washington.
Justin is survived by his mother Linda Taylor; sisters, Teri Englert, Tracy Bryant (Brian), and Denise Evans (Warren); brothers, Paul Taylor Jr. (Tina), Brian Taylor, and Dan Taylor (Tonia); Close Cousins, Ray York (Beth) and Jason Raimondi; grandmother, Violet York; nephews, Christopher Bryant (Ambra) and Kennedy Englert; niece, Taylor Englert; his special buddy Morgan Scott; dear friends Dustina Haase-Lanier and Gay Scott-Dale; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that were so very special to him. He will also be greatly missed by his very close and dear friends in the Portland-Vancouver LGBTQ community.
Justin was preceded in death by his grandfather Herb York; father Paul Taylor; and brother-in-law David Englert.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, October 12 at 5:00 p.m. at Ross Hollywood Chapel, 4733 NE Thompson St., Portland, OR.
