Karen Marie Schofield

Karen Marie Schofield passed away peacefully in her home on August 5, 2025. She was 83 years old. Karen was born in Portland, Oregon, the daughter of Kenneth and Betty Bartholomew. She graduated from Franklin High School. She lived a wonderful and fulfilling life, touching the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her.

She was a devoted fan of the Portland Trail Blazers. Karen’s enthusiasm for the team was infectious, often cheering them on with unwavering loyalty. She was a season ticket holder for over 50 years. Originating back to the 1st basketball season in 1970-1971. She found great joy in her beach house, a cherished retreat where she created countless memories with those she loved. Karen married the love of her life, George Schofield, in 1975. She and George actively supported the 11th / 511 Airborne and the Elks Club where she and George spent a lot of time and had many friends. They loved going dancing and together they embarked on a memorable journey across the United States in their motorhome, an adventure that remained one of the highlights of her life.

Karen’s professional career was spent in the accounting department at Meier & Frank, where she took pride in her work and found satisfaction in her contributions. She loved investing in the stock market and kept a close eye on the latest financial news. She also enjoyed going to thrift stores and garage sales, it was a passion of hers. Though she had no children or siblings, Karen’s warmth and kindness made her a beloved friend to many, always ready with a smile and a generous spirit.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, and later by her husband in 2009. She leaves behind extended family members and a circle of friends who will forever cherish her memory. Her love for life, her passions, and her steadfast friendship will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

A service in celebration of her life will be held at Willamette National Cemetery on August 20th, 2025, at 2:45pm.
