Kathleen Bernadette Joseph
September 28, 1949 – March 29, 2019
With profound sadness we announce the passing of Kathleen Joseph, 69 of Newport Oregon. On March 29, 2019, Kathleen passed peacefully at Providence hospital in Portland, OR with family by her side. Kathy was born and raised in Trinidad, WI. She served 24 faithful years in the US Army where she retired and served another 10 years with the state of Alaska. Kathy was a veteran, a member of the American Legion, volunteer at the Newport Senior Center, Cancer survivor, and so much more. Kathy was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She raised three strong, loving and independent children all of whom went to college and had their own careers. Kathy made sure she was always her children’s number one fan. Kathy attended all their sporting events as children and even traveled to many college events to see them perform. She was a mother any child would be lucky to have.
Kathy was just as dedicated as a grandmother as she was a mother. She was there for the birth of all her granddaughters. She was fun, loving, and understanding. She could pillow fight like no other! She was the type of grandma that would let the girls jump on the bed and let them sleep with her when she would visit. She was there for them to talk to, she taught them respect and they loved it when she told them funny stories of when their parents were little. She was special to them.
Kathy is survived by her two son’s Kevin and Brandon, her four granddaughters Kailana, Marley, Ashlyn, and Presley, her sister Yvonne and brother Vernon, and a number of other loving relatives and close friends. Kathleen was predeceased by her loving daughter Sonya.
Kathy was one of the strongest women you’d ever meet or know. Kathy was not afraid of anything, she spoke the truth no matter the consequence and she always protected her family and friends. She was very head strong with a personality that always made people around her laugh. You always knew where you stood with her and she never was one to sugar coat anything. She was true to herself and others. Kathy loved her family and instilled the strongest of values in each of her children. Kathy will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life on May 8th, 2019 at the Newport Senior Center on 20 SE 2nd Street in Newport, OR. from 1 pm – 3 pm.
