

Kathy was raised in Sandy, Oregon. Even as a child, Kathy had the ability to lift the spirits of all those around her. Kathy was raised with six siblings. She had four younger brothers, Lemoyne, Jerry, Paul, and Tom, and two younger sisters, Earlene and Mary. She was a member of Youth for Christ. Kathy graduated from Sandy High School in 1967. While growing up, some of her best friends were all her cousins. Later in life, she became friends with Arlene Klobucnik. Kathy loved sharing life and having her home filled with people she knew.
On September 30, 1975 Kathy exchanged wedding vows with Gary Gutwig at Pasco Presbyterian Church of Pasco, Washington. They were blessed with one child, Shanna, and two grandchildren, Jaydn and Preston.
She loved to shop and play slot machines. Kathy was content to enjoy her hobbies alone but was also willing to share her interests with others. Some of her favorite vacations included Aruba, Las Vegas, and Bali.
Kathy recognized that her faith was important to her throughout her life. She faithfully attended SW Community Church for 11 years. Kathy was a lover of animals and cherished her pets, enjoying them almost as much as she enjoyed being around other people. One of Kathy's favorites was Maddie, a lhasa apso and Bella, a shitz szu.
Kathy passed away on September 14, 2011 in her home in Indio, California. Kathy bravely fought breast cancer off and on for 7 years. She is survived by her husband Gary, daughter Shanna, grandchildren Jaydn & Preston, and her son-in-law, Andy.
Services were held at Lincoln Memorial Park & Funeral Home. Kathy was laid to rest in Willamette National Cemetery.
