Aug. 2, 1943 - Jan. 12, 2021
Kenneth "Ken" Berglund passed away Jan. 12, 2021 at the age of 77, in his hometown of Portland, Ore. His battle with dementia concluded peacefully after, much like in his regular life, he finished analyzing all his options including graphing, plotting, and very precisely drawing to scale his route to heaven.
Ken was born in Fargo, N.D., Aug. 2, 1943 to Floyd and Mildred (Johnson) Berglund. As a young man, Ken attended Benson HS. His love of the outdoors led to a job with the U.S. Forest Service. He later attended OSU before being drafted in the Army and stationed in Germany. After returning, he finished his degree and met his first wife Kris, the mother of his two children, and began his career with BPA, where he worked for 25 years before retiring in 2005.
Ken met his second wife, Beth, in 1995, and they were happily married in 2001. They shared many wonderful years together and especially enjoyed hiking, traveling, and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Ken had many talents, including a knack for building/construction and painting/drawing. He was extremely kind and loving and was known for never saying no if you ever needed help with anything.
Ken is survived by his wife, Beth Lee; his children, Eric and Kara Berglund (Ed Barbier); sisters, Gloria Berglund (Cathy Harmon) and Karen Shipman (Ken Shipman); and his grandchildren, Sofia and Charlotte Berglund, Lucas Barbier, and Kate and Reese Berglund Barbier.
No funeral will be held at this time due to Covid safety measures. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association.
