

Kenneth H. Cauble was born in Chicago, IL August 25, 1924 to Fred and Mary (Hill). He attended Orleans High School and after joining the Navy he continued his education at Taylor University and Western Conservative Baptist Theological Seminary. For most of his life he worked as a finish carpenter, but after retirement he concentrated on his love of hunting, fishing, and woodworking yard ornaments. He also helped his community by delivering bread to seniors and those in need. He is survived by his loving wife, Edith; daughters, Dianna Hall of Butler, TN and Brenda (Bob) Beck of Beaverton, OR; he was blessed with five grandchildren, Bradly (Cindy) Butler of Ormond Beach FL, Angela Butler of Butler TN, Bil (Renee) Beck or Yuba City CA, Ken (Tina) Beck of Hillsboro OR and Christina (Jim) Eisenhauer of Allen TX; sister, Nancy (George) Roach of Salinas CA; and brother, Ronald Cauble of Mitchell, IN. Kenneth H. Cauble was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 25, 1924. At the age of 10 he was taken to Orleans where he attended high school and then volunteered to join the Navy at age 18. He went through WWII at age 18. He met Edith Howell age 17 and told her cousin’s boyfriend that he just me the girl he was going to marry. That was at Holler skating rink in West Bodesh, IN, in 1942. He had one week leave in Nov 1943 before shipping out of the US and they got married 27th of Nov, 1943. She was 18 ½ and he was 19 years and 3 months. He had a good marriage for almost 73 years. They had 2 daughters Dianna Hall and Brenda Beck. 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. At age 30 Kenneth graduated from Taylor University at Uploand, IN, then he and Edith moved to Portland, OR where he joined the Navy reserves for 41 years and Oregon State Defense force. He was well educated, an artist and finish carpenter, good cook and expert shot. Just as he was about to retire from the Navy the Army at Seattle, WA asked him to come and join them as they needed a man to teach young men how to shoot properly and Kenneth stayed with them 10 years and retired as a Major. Kenneth never gave up on anything. He stuck with it until he accomplished it. March 28, 20008 he fell and at St. Vincent Hospital he was diagnosed with Dementia, receiving special help from the veterans, his wife kept him in their home where they lived in SW Portland on 34th Ave for 56 1/2 years. He was in a foster home for 3 months and later at Brookdale Senior Living in Tualatin, OR, in memory care where he slowly left us. Oct Sunday 16, 2016 at 12:20am. As long as he could talk he always told Edith his wife “I love you” and always gave her a smile. He could not talk the last few days, but seemed to know her. He tried to say something and couldn’t. Kenneth was a loving caring husband, father, grandfather and friend – he will be missed by everyone who had the opportunity to meet him.
