Kenneth Lee Meyer was born to parents Rollo Meyer and Margaret (Brown) Leydig in Portland, Oregon, on October 20, 1948. He was a brother to one sibling, George.
He was raised in Portland until the age of 10 at which time his family relocated to Grants Pass, OR. Ken graduated from Grants Pass High School and shortly thereafter returned to Portland.
Ken was introduced to Suzette Cote by a mutual friend in 1968 and the two were married in Huntsville, Alabama on May 28, 1969. Ken was drafted into the US Army in 1968 at the height of the Vietnam war and was tasked to electronics training at the Redstone Arsenal. Ken excelled in electronics and went on to serve in the Army as an electronics trainer and instructor. At the end of 1969, Ken and Suzette relocated to Germany where Ken served a tour of duty .
They were blessed with two daughters, Christa and Heather.
Ken enjoyed fishing, bow and rifle hunting, gardening, and the art of bonsai.
He was honest, honorable, dependable, and non-judgmental. Ken was a father figure and supportive guide to many young men and women. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, co-worker, and friend, and he will be remembered and missed by all.
Ken is predeceased by his parents Rollo Meyer and Margaret Leydig and his brother, George Meyer.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Suzette; daughters Christa Harrison and Heather Stevens; grandson, Derrek Stevens; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A graveside service with military honors will take place at Skyline Memorial Gardens, 4101 NW Skyline Blvd., Portland, OR, on Friday, March 4, 2016, at 1pm.
