He was born October 26, 1947 in Tacoma, Washington, to Alice Mathilda (Borg) and Ernest Carlton Peterson. After graduating from Puyallup High School, he attended Pacific Lutheran College and then served in the Army from 1969 through 1973. He moved to Portland after graduating from a 2-year course in electronics in Idaho and accepted a job at Tektronix, retiring from Xerox after 35 years of continuous service.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sharon Peterson; her three children, Paul (Sonja), David (Erin) and Mike (Sheri) Engstrom; sister Judy Noe; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Elaine McNeese; and parents, Alice and Carl Peterson.
He competed at Oaks Park roller skating rink, making it possible for him to go to nationals many times. He also competed in ballroom dancing with his wife Sharon.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, hiking, playing the guitar, and loved to sing karaoke, becoming a karaoke jockey at the Eagles #4 in Tigard.
A funeral service will be held at Skyline Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4101 NW Skyline Blvd., Portland, OR on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, 12 PM. Visitation will be held one hour prior at Skyline. Following the funeral service, Ken will be laid to rest in Skyline Memorial Gardens, Devotion Garden, Reception will follow back at the funeral home.
