

Larry Dale Murray passed away on October 12, 2014 in Portland, Oregon. Larry was born May 18, 1934 in Portal, North Dakota to parents Joseph Harold and Ruth Marie (Coughlin) Murray. Larry grew up in North Dakota, served in the U.S. Navy and received B.S. and M.S. degrees in Business from Mayville State University and the University of North Dakota. In 1957, he married his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Hunter, and in 1960 moved to Oregon where he served as a high school teacher in Burns and Bend, and as a Dean at Lane Community College in Eugene. He was happiest playing golf and bridge, being with family and friends, watching everything sports, gambling, making jokes and eating meatloaf. He died one month after the passing of his wife Elizabeth, and is survived by son Mark Murray (wife Lind Gee) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughters Pamela Murray (partner Kim Freeman) and Kimberly Murray of Portland, Oregon; sisters JoAnn Peterson of Antioch, California and Sharon Jenrich (husband Roger) of Tujunga, California, brother Gary Murray (wife Janet) of Eugene, Oregon; 3 nieces and 7 nephews; and grandaughter Payton Elizabeth Priestman of Portland, Oregon. Remembrances may be sent to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research in Larry's name. A ceremony honoring both Larry and Elizabeth will be performed at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd., Portland, Oregon 97086, on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 3:00 PM.
