She was born at home on the family farm in South Dakota to Arthur and Florence Scott. She had 2 sisters and 2 brothers. She graduated salutatorian from Fedora High School. Lavina traveled to Oregon during WWII on a visit with her grandparents. She stayed to work in the Kaiser Shipyards, and there she met her husband, Neil Nadeau.
She is Miss October on the 2020 Rosie the Riveter Calendar honoring the first women to work in the trades. She worked and retired after 27 years for Jantzen Swimwear. Lavina enjoyed clothes, gardening, crossword puzzles, could knock your socks off at Pinochle and loved the Blazers.
She is survived by her 3 children; Jacqueline Nadeau, Judy Gilliland and Gary Nadeau; her sister, Nadine Buttemeier; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing will take place on Monday, December 23 at 11:30 am at Lincoln Memorial Park & Funeral Home followed by a committal at 1:00 pm. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Lincoln Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
