Lawrence Edward Lieble was born in Yamhill County, Oregon on April 27, 1928 to Henry and Mary Lieble. As a high school student, Lawrence attended Grant High School. On July 5, 1952, he married Marilyn Mae Bond in Portland, Oregon. Most of Lawrence's working career was spent as an officer in the Army National Guard, where he retired after 36 years of service. He was involved in both the Moose Lodge and Eagle's Lodge, serving as secretary for the Eagle's Lodge for twenty years.
