Born November 11, 1946 to Lewis Alexander Sr. and Lela Virsharion Preston.
He was the youngest of the boys and the sixth of eight children. Butch knew how to work this to his advantage as he had his siblings wrapped around his finger. Reminding them that “Mother said to take care of me” and that they did. Nothing was too great or small for their baby brother.
He attended Jefferson High School and received his Welders Certificate from the State of Oregon. A jack of all trades and a master of many things he was unique and talented in His ability to negotiate his needs and wants to anyone and you could rest assure that he would always come out on the winning end.
Lawrences’ small frame was as his older brother Sunny Man would say “A little piece of leather but well put together” He was meticulous in his choice of clothes and they had to fit him just right! His mode of transportation (his scooter) would take him on many adventures as you would often see him breaking the speed limit going down MLK. He didn’t need a bull-horn to be heard because if he wanted to get your attention all he had to do was open his mouth and you could hear him clear across North and North East Portland!
His love for family and his ability to stand in his TRUTH no matter what it looked like from the outside, is what we will miss the most! He left a lasting impression everywhere he went and Dawson Park won't be the same without his unique ability to “keep it real” Animated would be an understatement, he just knew how to get his point across in rare fashion! No one did it like “Uncle Boo Boo You were guaranteed to be entertained!
Proceeding him in death his father and mother Lewis and Lela Preston. Brothers Lewis Jr. Willie and Earl Preston.
He leaves to cherish his memory brothers: A.J Preston (Annette), Melvin Preston (Cathy). Sisters Joyce Whitmore and Frances Hatton (Raymond) all of Portland, Oregon! And a host of Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.
